31 more days before I can finally taste real chicken rice again! and chilli crabs and chicken rice and rojak and hokkien mee and chicken rice and popiah and grilled chicken wings and oyster omelette and chicken rice and pork porridge and roast pig and dim sum and ice kacang and red ruby and duck rice and wan tan mee and did I mention chicken rice?? Can't wait..
But will have to tackle the exams first.. I think the good thing about this place is they have ungraded passes.. So not much pressure la.. But I still have to pass!
Had another interview today, it went quite well, the patient was a chinese lady who lived in Singapore before, so had no problems talking to her lah.. After that played bridge and hearts in the pizza place with the rest.. Reminds me of JC days in the choir room.. Mr Liang bai fen!!!
Okie that's all folks! Wop!

Sing-a-long time!

SO LONG & THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH

So long and thanks for all the fish
So sad that it should come to this
We tried to warn you all but oh dear

You may not share our intellect
Which might explain your disrespect
For all the natural wonders that grow (around you)
So long so long and thanks for all the fish

The world’s about to be destroyed
There’s no point getting all annoyed
Lie back and let the planet dissolve (around you)

Despite those nets of tuna fleets
We thought most of you were sweet
Especially tiny tots and your pregnant women

So long so long, so long so long, so long so long, so long so long
So long so long, so long so long, so long so long, so long so long
So long so long and thanks for all the fish

If I had just one last wish
I would like a tasy fish
If we could just change one thing
We would all have learnt to sing

Come one and all
Man and mammal
Side by side in life's great gene pool

So long so long, so long so long, so long so long, so long so long
So long so long, so long so long, so long so long, so long so long
So long so long and thanks for all the fish

Primum Non Nocere

I swear by Apollo Physician and Asclepius and Hygieia and Panaceia and all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will fulfil according to my ability and judgment this oath and this covenant:

To hold him who has taught me this art as equal to my parents and to live my life in partnership with him, and if he is in need of money to give him a share of mine, and to regard his offspring as equal to my brothers in male lineage and to teach them this art - if they desire to learn it - without fee and covenant; to give a share of precepts and oral instruction and all the other learning to my sons and to the sons of him who has instructed me and to pupils who have signed the covenant and have taken an oath according to the medical law, but no one else.

I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice.

I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect. Similarly I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy. In purity and holiness I will guard my life and my art.

I will not use the knife, not even on sufferers from stone, but will withdraw in favor of such men as are engaged in this work.

Whatever houses I may visit, I will come for the benefit of the sick, remaining free of all intentional injustice, of all mischief and in particular of sexual relations with both female and male persons, be they free or slaves.

What I may see or hear in the course of the treatment or even outside of the treatment in regard to the life of men, which on no account one must spread abroad, I will keep to myself, holding such things shameful to be spoken about.

If I fulfil this oath and do not violate it, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and art, being honored with fame among all men for all time to come; if I transgress it and swear falsely, may the opposite of all this be my lot.

Flu Bug

Argh.. There seems to be a flu bug going around and I seem to have caught it.. Hate falling sick.. Was so miserable waking up this morning.. Don't think I'll see a doctor too.. To see one, I must make an appointment, by the time I reach the appointment date, I would have already gotten well. The doctors here are also not able to sell medicine, so I would have to get a prescription to go to the pharmacy to get drugs.. So troublesome.. Sigh, guess I'll just have to rely on my own immune system to tide over this flu bout.

Star Wars

Caught the premiere of Star Wars Episode 3 last night.. I think it was the best out of the first three episodes.. I found it quite saddening when they killed off the Jedi.. haha they are so freaking sly!..

Before going in the cinema, there were quite a number of people who dressed up for the occasion.. Including a princess Leia.. haha with edible buns..
Only slept at 4 last night.. and still had 8am lecture.. luckily its a short day today and I can go to sleep now

A Day at the Movies

I hate 8am lectures.. Especially when it was 7 degrees this morning and it was so comfy in bed.. Was the first time I had mist coming out of my mouth in Adelaide.. haha.. Then when I got to school, the first lecturer came half an hour late, and the second lecturer didn't even show!! Wah lau!!! I could have slept longer!! Had five and a half hour break after that, so went to watch Kingdom of Heaven.. It was not bad, the fighting scenes were not bad.. In the evening, went to catch the Interpreter.. Was not bad as well, and it's amazing how Nicole Kidman seems to get prettier and prettier.. After the movie, we went to the cinema next door just in time for the starting of Hitchhiker's Guide.. haha they do not have ticket collectors at the door.. So we essentially paid about two bucks plus for each movie.. Having read a bit of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, I think that the movie does not do justice to the book.. It is so different from the book.. Oh well..
Yay got lobang to catch the premiere of Episode 3 at 12:01am tomorrow night!!!

Phew

The week is finally over! It's been quite a hectic week.. With an assignment submission due on wednesday and a Spanish test on thursday.. Can now finally relax with a long weekend with a public holiday on monday.. Adelaide Cup Day.. Dunno what the hell it's about.. Was introduced on how to perform a cardiovascular examination during my clinical skills lesson on wednesday, which involved finding the apex beat of the heart some where on the left chest.. And then we had to practise on simulated patients, which were mostly women on that day.. It was quite an interesting lesson and it was very good that we had chances to practise on simulated patients.. And I think these people have lots of guts to just lie there and let everyone touch them everywhere..
Also went for the Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow tonight.. It was almost two and a half hours of non stop laughter.. The comedians were damn good and talented.. I think I am going to start going for standup comedy shows more often.. Hehe... Yay tomorrow going factory outlet shopping!!

Reminiscence

I've been in Adelaide for about two and a half months now.. And never did I realise that I would miss Chorale so much! Sigh.. I miss going for practices, singing with all the fun people in Chorale, going for dinner breaks at beer garden, going to the now defunct BP? for breaks, going for supper after practice, be it east coast, Thai Express or etc. Still remember Choir Olympics, eating Gelati almost everytime we passed by the stall, even if it was quite cold, the elation after entering the finals, hoping that Olly the dinosaur would go up on stage when they announced our choir during the awards ceremony, exploring on our own in Paris. Really looking forward to Christmas so I coud hopefully carol with everyone again.. And by the time I graduate and would be able to sing with Chorale again, I would be freaking OLD!
