Rural Week
Just got back from Whyalla for my rural week. It was a very fun week and the food was fantastic! Went to a aged care home to interview some residents there. Interviewed a healthy person followed by one with Dementia to see the difference. People with Dementia can be really adorable.. Even though it's sad that they can't remember anything.. Also went to Myola station which is a sort of a sheep ranch away from the town. The guy who owns it controls 500 square kilometres of land.. That is only slightly smaller than Singapore! Woah! I wish I could at least own a quarter of that.. We travelled around in a flatbed pickup and 17 of us squeezed onto the back and we had a harrowing but fun ride comparable to a roller coaster.. haha.. Living out in the land is so fun although it is so isolated.. Has its pros and cons I guess.. If I don't get to be a doctor I would like to open a ranch too! heh.. Every meal we had there was provided, and they really stuffed us full at every meal, with steak, subway sandwiches etc.. At least the 30k I pay a year has given me some returns.. The town's industry is iron ore refining, so it spews out red dust into the atmosphere, coating the surrounding areas, causing everything to turn red, even plants.. So much that it looks like a Martian landscape.. haha.. Wish I could go back again.. heh.. Well, one week of holidays left.. gotta start preparing for the exams again.. 60 more days till my return to Singapore!

Sleepy..
Had a mooncake cum potluck party at debby's place last night.. Had a really good time.. Went to Hans' place to make bread before that.. Wow I didnt know bread making was such a science.. Very cheem.. We made bacon and cheese bread, mushroom and cheese bread, tausah bread, tuna and cheese bread and hot dog bread.. Shiok.. Was glad the bread was pretty well received.. Must learn more from Hans.. Also tried to make snowskin mooncakes but the skin was pretty hard.. dunno why also.. But it was still edible.. Should try again another time..Stayed up the whole night playing games and in the morning got dragged along to walk 6km in the City Bay Marathon thingy.. Walking 6km in slippers is no joke.. Think shall go take a nap first and get up later to pack for rural week.. Zzzzzzzzzz..

Inspiration
Kinda inspired to be a gynae now haha.. The other day we had a lecture on pregnancy and we were shown a video of a woman giving birth.. Ouch! I wonder how girls will still want to have children after watching that video.. I will also have to go find my own pregnant couple soon and I will have to follow them throughout the whole process of pregnancy and delivery and follow their child through the first few years of its life.. Kinda exciting! Hope I have an easy time looking for a willing couple.. heh
Procrastination
Argh.. I am only 170 words into my 2000 words essay.. And here I am procrastinating.. I wonder how the school comes up with such boliao assignments.. What the hell do I know about Aboriginal health anyway.. Sigh.. This week is the last week of school! Next week I will be going to Whyalla for rural week.. Looking forward to it as I heard it's quite fun.. Although it's 5 hours drive away.. I would rather spend the time flying to Singapore. haha.. After my mid-semester break there will only be like 4 more weeks of school before SWOT vacation and the exams and back to Singapore.. So fast!! goodness.. So much to do so little time.. Well, back to the horrid essay..

Royal Adelaide Show
Went for the Royal Adelaide Show yesterday, which is the biggest annual event in South Australia. It's like a giant expo of all sorts of stuff like farm animals, horticulture and a funfair which is like those olden day funfairs where you win huge soft toys.. Had a really good time there, so many things to see and play, won a few soft toys including a giant Kermit the frog! hahaha.. Pictures up soon.. For now, I have to get back to my 2000 word essay.. sigh..

Willy Wonka
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has finally opened in Australia and I have finally watched it.. It was quite entertaining.. Pretty funny.. Wish I could have a chocolate river.. haha.. Went to a temple on sunday, didn't think that they would have such a large temple in Adelaide.. But it's pretty far away, would go more often if i had a car. Sigh.. It was also Fathers' Day on sunday! Dunno why aussies are so weird, celebrating Fathers' Day differently from most of everyone else.. No wonder I couldn't find any Father's Day cards during June. And Mid Autumn Festival is coming! Well its not mid autumn here but rather mid spring.. Wanna learn how to make mooncakes! and wanna burn lanterns! wonder if they sell cheap lanterns here..

Bad Weather
Wow a storm is really raging on here.. Pretty big by how it looks on the news, winds reaching 120km/h, trees falling everywhere, crushing cars, powers lines down, blackouts everywhere and sirens wailing all over the place every few minutes pass my place.. Earlier in the day I thought it was just another windy day but wow.. I can imagine how its like in the areas hit by hurricane Katrina now with the winds twice as fast.. Lucky there is no blackout out here and I'm not out late today.. haha

Tenology
Went for The Ten Tenors concert tonight. They are really GOOD.. They are highly entertaining and their voices are really good.. Wanted to go watch them when they went to Singapore but they cancelled, so really glad they came down to Adelaide. They are really versatile singers, singing a range of songs from opera to beach boys to queen. Now must go look for their cds in the library.. hehe.. Highly recommended if they ever go to Singapore!

Winter sans snow
Here is a picture of a typical winter scene in Adelaide as requested by Yiren.. This was hastily taken so pardon me. =)
Quotable Quote
I used to think that the brain was the most wonderful organ in my body. Then I realised what was telling me this.

Tragedy
Read about the young couple who died in Perth today.. Such horrific news.. And they live so near me in Singapore.. A young couple trying to carve their future in a new country killed just like that.. It's terrible how high the accident rate is in Australia, almost everyday I hear about people being killed on the roads. The newspaper even has a column keeping count of the number of people killed on the roads so far.. Madness..

Happy National Day
Happy Birthday Singapore! haha we sent a video over to the NDP people for our 15 seconds of fame.. and apparently they only showed a small clip.. So go to the ndp website to see our video! haha.. This is also the first time in like 10 years where I havent attended the parade.. Hope they rebuild the national stadium to an olympic sized one then they can fit more people in.. On saturday we had a celebration in school for the Singapore association i think sponsored by the Singapore International Foundation. We cooked laksa, mee siam, etc.. Really miss the food.. haha.. it was quite fun on the whole and the turnout was better than I expected... other than that life has been pretty dull.. school everyday.. arghs

Back
Wow, it has been more than a month since I've posted anything here.. Been really lazy to update.. haha until yiren threatened to kill me.. It was really great to finally go back home to Singapore, except for the weather.. Food was great.. Now I miss going for 'famous lunch' with yiren. Counting down the days when I will return to Singapore again.. 118 days.. What a long way to go.. Really dreaded school starting again.. haha.. Must get back to the routine of school.. Nothing exciting has happened yet.. So nothing much to write about.. At least things won't be so boring now that I've got a TV.. hehe.. Next to get a DVD player..
