Free!

Exams have finally ended! I'm one sixth of the way to becoming a doctor! Went for the Adelaide Christmas Pageant this morning, which is a christmas parade quite similar to Chingay..

Before the parade started, there was rampant vandalism of the roads as police watched on helplessly. If you bought the newspaper today, they would have given you a packet of chalk to perform your own acts of vandalism. It was already so crowded 2 hours before the parade started.. I didn't know so many people existed in Adelaide.. The aussies are more kiasu than I thought.

Everywhere, children were eagerly trying to catch the attention of Santa Claus.. Soon after, the parade started.. Here are some of the almost 50+ floats..

Rapunzel's float.. Look at the many people needed to blowdry her hair! hahaha...

Alice in wonderland...

This Gandalf like character was dancing on his float.. Quite funky for a character like him.. haha

Snowy Koala and snowmen.. Even though it is summer during christmas in Australia..

Santa Claus is coming to town!
There are a couple of more pics in my flickr.. Will upload more in due time.. Has been a very tiring day.. Shall go sleep now..

Terror!

South Australia is supposed to be the driest state in Australia.. Now we're flooded! hahaha.. After a night of heavy rain, so many parts of Adelaide were flooded.. Lucky my area was not.. Too bad school was not flooded, if not no need to take the exam liao.. haha especially since the anatomy lab is underground.. Sure become a swimming pool if flooded.. haha.. The news has also been quite entertaining.. They were reporting that the flooding affected a christmas exhibit including the Nativity scene and Disney chracters.. They mentioned that Mary, Joseph and Jesus were missing and also Snow white and her seven presumed drowned dwarves.. haha.. Moby dick was spotted floating down the river rapids and rescuers were desperately trying to reach the victims..
16 terrorists were also arrested last night.. Scary.. Wonder what will happen if there really is a terrorist attack here.. Oh well, hope all of them were caught last night although I'm sure there are still some hiding somewhere.. Well, back to the kidneys!

Counting Down!

One paper down two to go!
12 more days to Singapore!

Stress

Two more days before exams! So much more to cover!!! Argh! Why is the human body so complicated.. and why must they give the parts such complicated names.. Can't they name them muscle 1, muscle 2 instead of abductor pollicis brevis, biceps brachii etc.!? Everytime I am near going back home to Singapore, I have to go through this hurdle of exams.. And I just heard that nearly ten of my cohort have been barred from the exams by the school.. So evil! and at such short notice! They don't even have time to plead their case.. Scary.. By the way.. Everyone who comes here please take a bit of your time to click on the google ads on the left! =)

Rural Week

Just got back from Whyalla for my rural week. It was a very fun week and the food was fantastic! Went to a aged care home to interview some residents there. Interviewed a healthy person followed by one with Dementia to see the difference. People with Dementia can be really adorable.. Even though it's sad that they can't remember anything.. Also went to Myola station which is a sort of a sheep ranch away from the town. The guy who owns it controls 500 square kilometres of land.. That is only slightly smaller than Singapore! Woah! I wish I could at least own a quarter of that.. We travelled around in a flatbed pickup and 17 of us squeezed onto the back and we had a harrowing but fun ride comparable to a roller coaster.. haha.. Living out in the land is so fun although it is so isolated.. Has its pros and cons I guess.. If I don't get to be a doctor I would like to open a ranch too! heh.. Every meal we had there was provided, and they really stuffed us full at every meal, with steak, subway sandwiches etc.. At least the 30k I pay a year has given me some returns.. The town's industry is iron ore refining, so it spews out red dust into the atmosphere, coating the surrounding areas, causing everything to turn red, even plants.. So much that it looks like a Martian landscape.. haha.. Wish I could go back again.. heh.. Well, one week of holidays left.. gotta start preparing for the exams again.. 60 more days till my return to Singapore!

Sleepy..

Had a mooncake cum potluck party at debby's place last night.. Had a really good time.. Went to Hans' place to make bread before that.. Wow I didnt know bread making was such a science.. Very cheem.. We made bacon and cheese bread, mushroom and cheese bread, tausah bread, tuna and cheese bread and hot dog bread.. Shiok.. Was glad the bread was pretty well received.. Must learn more from Hans.. Also tried to make snowskin mooncakes but the skin was pretty hard.. dunno why also.. But it was still edible.. Should try again another time..Stayed up the whole night playing games and in the morning got dragged along to walk 6km in the City Bay Marathon thingy.. Walking 6km in slippers is no joke.. Think shall go take a nap first and get up later to pack for rural week.. Zzzzzzzzzz..

Inspiration

Kinda inspired to be a gynae now haha.. The other day we had a lecture on pregnancy and we were shown a video of a woman giving birth.. Ouch! I wonder how girls will still want to have children after watching that video.. I will also have to go find my own pregnant couple soon and I will have to follow them throughout the whole process of pregnancy and delivery and follow their child through the first few years of its life.. Kinda exciting! Hope I have an easy time looking for a willing couple.. heh

Procrastination

Argh.. I am only 170 words into my 2000 words essay.. And here I am procrastinating.. I wonder how the school comes up with such boliao assignments.. What the hell do I know about Aboriginal health anyway.. Sigh.. This week is the last week of school! Next week I will be going to Whyalla for rural week.. Looking forward to it as I heard it's quite fun.. Although it's 5 hours drive away.. I would rather spend the time flying to Singapore. haha.. After my mid-semester break there will only be like 4 more weeks of school before SWOT vacation and the exams and back to Singapore.. So fast!! goodness.. So much to do so little time.. Well, back to the horrid essay..

Royal Adelaide Show

Went for the Royal Adelaide Show yesterday, which is the biggest annual event in South Australia. It's like a giant expo of all sorts of stuff like farm animals, horticulture and a funfair which is like those olden day funfairs where you win huge soft toys.. Had a really good time there, so many things to see and play, won a few soft toys including a giant Kermit the frog! hahaha.. Pictures up soon.. For now, I have to get back to my 2000 word essay.. sigh..

Willy Wonka

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has finally opened in Australia and I have finally watched it.. It was quite entertaining.. Pretty funny.. Wish I could have a chocolate river.. haha.. Went to a temple on sunday, didn't think that they would have such a large temple in Adelaide.. But it's pretty far away, would go more often if i had a car. Sigh.. It was also Fathers' Day on sunday! Dunno why aussies are so weird, celebrating Fathers' Day differently from most of everyone else.. No wonder I couldn't find any Father's Day cards during June. And Mid Autumn Festival is coming! Well its not mid autumn here but rather mid spring.. Wanna learn how to make mooncakes! and wanna burn lanterns! wonder if they sell cheap lanterns here..

Bad Weather

Wow a storm is really raging on here.. Pretty big by how it looks on the news, winds reaching 120km/h, trees falling everywhere, crushing cars, powers lines down, blackouts everywhere and sirens wailing all over the place every few minutes pass my place.. Earlier in the day I thought it was just another windy day but wow.. I can imagine how its like in the areas hit by hurricane Katrina now with the winds twice as fast.. Lucky there is no blackout out here and I'm not out late today.. haha

Tenology

Went for The Ten Tenors concert tonight. They are really GOOD.. They are highly entertaining and their voices are really good.. Wanted to go watch them when they went to Singapore but they cancelled, so really glad they came down to Adelaide. They are really versatile singers, singing a range of songs from opera to beach boys to queen. Now must go look for their cds in the library.. hehe.. Highly recommended if they ever go to Singapore!

Here is a picture of a typical winter scene in Adelaide as requested by Yiren.. This was hastily taken so pardon me. =)

Tragedy

Read about the young couple who died in Perth today.. Such horrific news.. And they live so near me in Singapore.. A young couple trying to carve their future in a new country killed just like that.. It's terrible how high the accident rate is in Australia, almost everyday I hear about people being killed on the roads. The newspaper even has a column keeping count of the number of people killed on the roads so far.. Madness..

Winter Wonderland

It's snowing in Victoria, why can't it snow in Adelaide?!

Happy National Day

Happy Birthday Singapore! haha we sent a video over to the NDP people for our 15 seconds of fame.. and apparently they only showed a small clip.. So go to the ndp website to see our video! haha.. This is also the first time in like 10 years where I havent attended the parade.. Hope they rebuild the national stadium to an olympic sized one then they can fit more people in.. On saturday we had a celebration in school for the Singapore association i think sponsored by the Singapore International Foundation. We cooked laksa, mee siam, etc.. Really miss the food.. haha.. it was quite fun on the whole and the turnout was better than I expected... other than that life has been pretty dull.. school everyday.. arghs

Whale?

DSCN2961, originally uploaded by andromean.

Rock? Whale? Who knows?

Back

Wow, it has been more than a month since I've posted anything here.. Been really lazy to update.. haha until yiren threatened to kill me.. It was really great to finally go back home to Singapore, except for the weather.. Food was great.. Now I miss going for 'famous lunch' with yiren. Counting down the days when I will return to Singapore again.. 118 days.. What a long way to go.. Really dreaded school starting again.. haha.. Must get back to the routine of school.. Nothing exciting has happened yet.. So nothing much to write about.. At least things won't be so boring now that I've got a TV.. hehe.. Next to get a DVD player..

HOT

Been back in Singapore for a little over 2 days already.. Beginning to miss Adelaide's weather.. haha but I don't wanna go back too soon la.. Had chilli crabs after I landed on Sunday! hahaha yummy.. Really missed the food in Singapore.. Had sushi today too.. Haha another food that I've not eaten in four over months.. And have I mentioned that it's HOT in Singapore? Once I stepped off the plane the heat hit me.. haha couldn't even breathe.. There are so many movies I wanna watch! War of the Worlds, Initial D, Fantastic Four, etcetc.. Maybe shall catch a couple tomorrow.. Don't really have plans for tomorrow anyway.. Things have also changed a lot in 4 months.. TM and Century Square has changed so much! My favourite shop that has supplied me Archie comics for the past years has disappeared.. sigh.. Sakae Sushi is back in Century Square among many other new shops and restaurants.. Maybe should go explore more tomorrow.. hahaha

Homeward Bound

Exams are finally over! A huge load has been lifted off my brain! And I'm going home tomorrow!!
We took a trip down to Victor Harbour today, wanting to catch some whales in action as its whale season now.. The view there is spectacular.. The ocean is so very big. How I wish I would be able to own a beachfront property there.. Went over to a small island there called Granite Island, so called because I think its made entirely out of granite, and maybe some sand, grass and other stuff.. It was a nice walk around the island, saw sea sprays and funny rock formations.. Then we saw whales in the distance! I imagine our luck!! There they were, two whales frolicking about in the ocean, churning out bubbles around the sea water.. So we stood there to admire the whales, waiting to see if they will flick a tail at us. But after 5 minutes of no movement, and observing them some 15 minutes later, they were still in the same position.. We realised that they were rocks that were almost fully submerged under the water with the waves lapping around them.. Argh. The whales eluded us this time, but we will be back.
Went for dinner after that in this restaurant near the coast. We all had Beer Batter Fish and Chips.. It was not too bad, but I think Fish and Co. is still better.. We also celebrated early Fang's 21st Birthday in the restaurant.. I would say our plan came to fruition very successfully, beginning with an ambush, a race and a lost camera. The restaurant was also very helpful by helping us with the cake and giving Fang a free Piña Colada.. It was a very fun day and a very good way to destress after the exams.. I would also like to wish Fang a very Happy Birthday! Hope you enjoyed your day!

Anisopoikilocytosis

One last paper to go! It feels as if the exams are over already.. haha I can almost feel it.. Just MCQ and short answer left.. Today's practical was quite fun.. Consisting of 17 stations with 7 mins each.. So have to rotate like a game.. haha.. Some unexpected stuff came up but never mind la.. First and only exam that is not counted, so I shall cherish the moment.. Can't wait to get back to Singapore, one thing I'm dreading is the weather.. Absolutely love the weather here.. Haven't perspired for a long long time.. Oh well, you win some you lose some.. Very sleepy.. Shall continue another day.

Durex ad

Got this from Kelvin's blog..

haha I think it's a simple yet ingenious ad..

JC choir hits top note

I think most reporters in The S****** Times are from a certain JC.. Maybe since they so angmohdified.. The whole article goes on and on how they beat so many choirs blah blah blah.. And for the other Singaporean choirs, they just get one line.
The National University of Singapore, Anderson JC and Woodlands Primary also took part and won prizes as well.
So zai go take part Olympics lor..
Haha I don't know what I'm ranting about.. Just letting off some steam from the exams..

One down two to go!

Today was the first time I'm taking an exam in two and a half years.. I think I'm a little out of touch already.. haha.. Thought I had more than enough time to finish the four questions but boy was I wrong.. But I still managed to finish it.. I hate the stupid respiratory system.. Why is there so many colours of sputum?! They want me to know the entire colour spectrum of sputum?! Hopefully I'll scrape through this paper alright.. Most of the questions were pretty all right.. Its an ungraded pass after all.. And its formative after all.. Oh well.. Next up, practical..

Information Overload

Argh.. I'm so screwed for the exams.. Hope I can pull through.. If my brain grew with the amount of information I have to know for the exam I think my head will be like Marvin above.. Gotta sleep now, got a paper to catch tomorrow..

Happy Fathers' Day

This time next week I'll be on a plane home! But I would have to get through this week first.. Sigh.. Still so much to cover..

P is for P plate

Going home in less then 2 weeks time! Exam is coming. Still so much to cover. Sigh. Spent the whole day with dead people today. How exciting. After fiddling around with intestines trying to figure out how to differentiate this thingy from that thingy, went for a well deserved lunch with the rest. When the conversation turned to driving in Singapore and P plates, I realised on checking my license that today is exactly one year since I got my license! Woohoo! No more P plate liao! haha. Well, have to get back to the books.

Autumn Leaves

The street ouside med school.. pardon the lousy resolution.. taken with hp camera..

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

15 More Days!

Today is the last day of school of Semester 1!! One down, 11 to go! The weather is crazy now.. Its supposed to be winter! But it has been so warm the past few days.. Stupid El Nino.. Need to start planning my itinerary for when i return to Singapore.. Oh.. and there are the exams too.. Sigh.. Need to study study study...

Saturday, June 04, 2005

22 more days

Woohoo.. The days are counting down! Sigh.. I dunno where to start for my exam preparations.. So many things to do! Luckily they gave some sort of syllabus.. So at least I will know what to cover..
Went for Haran's birthday party last night.. It was fun.. wanted to leave to catch my last bus.. but decided to stay all the way. There was food and alcohol flowing. not bad.. He booked a whole sort of tavern thing at the pub.. So the atmosphere was not bad.. lots of dancing and drinking.. Fun before getting down to study.. The weather is so shiok nowadays.. haha sometimes can't even feel my fingers and toes.. Think i will melt when i return to Singapore..

Wop

Wop! That's the word of the day.. What a cool word.. Wop! haha.. For all those who haven't read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, go read it!
31 more days before I can finally taste real chicken rice again! and chilli crabs and chicken rice and rojak and hokkien mee and chicken rice and popiah and grilled chicken wings and oyster omelette and chicken rice and pork porridge and roast pig and dim sum and ice kacang and red ruby and duck rice and wan tan mee and did I mention chicken rice?? Can't wait..
But will have to tackle the exams first.. I think the good thing about this place is they have ungraded passes.. So not much pressure la.. But I still have to pass!
Had another interview today, it went quite well, the patient was a chinese lady who lived in Singapore before, so had no problems talking to her lah.. After that played bridge and hearts in the pizza place with the rest.. Reminds me of JC days in the choir room.. Mr Liang bai fen!!!
Okie that's all folks! Wop!

Sing-a-long time!

SO LONG & THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH

So long and thanks for all the fish
So sad that it should come to this
We tried to warn you all but oh dear

You may not share our intellect
Which might explain your disrespect
For all the natural wonders that grow (around you)
So long so long and thanks for all the fish

The world’s about to be destroyed
There’s no point getting all annoyed
Lie back and let the planet dissolve (around you)

Despite those nets of tuna fleets
We thought most of you were sweet
Especially tiny tots and your pregnant women

So long so long, so long so long, so long so long, so long so long
So long so long, so long so long, so long so long, so long so long
So long so long and thanks for all the fish

If I had just one last wish
I would like a tasy fish
If we could just change one thing
We would all have learnt to sing

Come one and all
Man and mammal
Side by side in life's great gene pool

So long so long, so long so long, so long so long, so long so long
So long so long, so long so long, so long so long, so long so long
So long so long and thanks for all the fish

Primum Non Nocere

I swear by Apollo Physician and Asclepius and Hygieia and Panaceia and all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will fulfil according to my ability and judgment this oath and this covenant:

To hold him who has taught me this art as equal to my parents and to live my life in partnership with him, and if he is in need of money to give him a share of mine, and to regard his offspring as equal to my brothers in male lineage and to teach them this art - if they desire to learn it - without fee and covenant; to give a share of precepts and oral instruction and all the other learning to my sons and to the sons of him who has instructed me and to pupils who have signed the covenant and have taken an oath according to the medical law, but no one else.

I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice.

I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect. Similarly I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy. In purity and holiness I will guard my life and my art.

I will not use the knife, not even on sufferers from stone, but will withdraw in favor of such men as are engaged in this work.

Whatever houses I may visit, I will come for the benefit of the sick, remaining free of all intentional injustice, of all mischief and in particular of sexual relations with both female and male persons, be they free or slaves.

What I may see or hear in the course of the treatment or even outside of the treatment in regard to the life of men, which on no account one must spread abroad, I will keep to myself, holding such things shameful to be spoken about.

If I fulfil this oath and do not violate it, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and art, being honored with fame among all men for all time to come; if I transgress it and swear falsely, may the opposite of all this be my lot.

Flu Bug

Argh.. There seems to be a flu bug going around and I seem to have caught it.. Hate falling sick.. Was so miserable waking up this morning.. Don't think I'll see a doctor too.. To see one, I must make an appointment, by the time I reach the appointment date, I would have already gotten well. The doctors here are also not able to sell medicine, so I would have to get a prescription to go to the pharmacy to get drugs.. So troublesome.. Sigh, guess I'll just have to rely on my own immune system to tide over this flu bout.

Star Wars

Caught the premiere of Star Wars Episode 3 last night.. I think it was the best out of the first three episodes.. I found it quite saddening when they killed off the Jedi.. haha they are so freaking sly!..

Before going in the cinema, there were quite a number of people who dressed up for the occasion.. Including a princess Leia.. haha with edible buns..
Only slept at 4 last night.. and still had 8am lecture.. luckily its a short day today and I can go to sleep now

A Day at the Movies

I hate 8am lectures.. Especially when it was 7 degrees this morning and it was so comfy in bed.. Was the first time I had mist coming out of my mouth in Adelaide.. haha.. Then when I got to school, the first lecturer came half an hour late, and the second lecturer didn't even show!! Wah lau!!! I could have slept longer!! Had five and a half hour break after that, so went to watch Kingdom of Heaven.. It was not bad, the fighting scenes were not bad.. In the evening, went to catch the Interpreter.. Was not bad as well, and it's amazing how Nicole Kidman seems to get prettier and prettier.. After the movie, we went to the cinema next door just in time for the starting of Hitchhiker's Guide.. haha they do not have ticket collectors at the door.. So we essentially paid about two bucks plus for each movie.. Having read a bit of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, I think that the movie does not do justice to the book.. It is so different from the book.. Oh well..
Yay got lobang to catch the premiere of Episode 3 at 12:01am tomorrow night!!!

Phew

The week is finally over! It's been quite a hectic week.. With an assignment submission due on wednesday and a Spanish test on thursday.. Can now finally relax with a long weekend with a public holiday on monday.. Adelaide Cup Day.. Dunno what the hell it's about.. Was introduced on how to perform a cardiovascular examination during my clinical skills lesson on wednesday, which involved finding the apex beat of the heart some where on the left chest.. And then we had to practise on simulated patients, which were mostly women on that day.. It was quite an interesting lesson and it was very good that we had chances to practise on simulated patients.. And I think these people have lots of guts to just lie there and let everyone touch them everywhere..
Also went for the Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow tonight.. It was almost two and a half hours of non stop laughter.. The comedians were damn good and talented.. I think I am going to start going for standup comedy shows more often.. Hehe... Yay tomorrow going factory outlet shopping!!

Wednesday, May 11, 2005

So long and thanks for all the fish!

Watched Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy yesterday.. it was good! haha.. quite an entertaining show with an amusing soundtrack.. and I find the manic depressive robot very funny.. haha.. liked the show so much I just bought the book.. should be an interesting read.. So all you out there go watch it!!

Reminiscence

I've been in Adelaide for about two and a half months now.. And never did I realise that I would miss Chorale so much! Sigh.. I miss going for practices, singing with all the fun people in Chorale, going for dinner breaks at beer garden, going to the now defunct BP? for breaks, going for supper after practice, be it east coast, Thai Express or etc. Still remember Choir Olympics, eating Gelati almost everytime we passed by the stall, even if it was quite cold, the elation after entering the finals, hoping that Olly the dinosaur would go up on stage when they announced our choir during the awards ceremony, exploring on our own in Paris. Really looking forward to Christmas so I coud hopefully carol with everyone again.. And by the time I graduate and would be able to sing with Chorale again, I would be freaking OLD!

Scary

Went for pizza after spanish class (where in Singapore can you get a large pizza at $3.90??). When this aboriginal guy at the next table who was obviously drunk started scolding this guy sitting outside the shop minding his own business and even started punching him! He was mumbling incoherently but we could hear the F words used to punctuate his sentences.. Then some teenagers nearby decided to cut in to help the guy and told the drunkard "Sit down and eat your F****ING pizza!" then he started shouting incoherently and took his wine bottle and wanted to hit them! so they defended theselves using their skateboards but they knew better and went off.. After a while some policemen came over to book the guy but they did not arrest him in the meantime, this van came to round him up.. Apparently its a van that goes around rounding up rowdy aboriginals.. haha wonder where they bring them.. happening sia.. lucky nothing serious happened.. and the guy was smart not to fight back, if not things may have gotten worse.. and we were like standing by to run in case glass and skateboards started flying..

Takeoff

The A380 has finally made its first maiden flight! It's going to be the world's biggest passenger liner once its released.. It's freaking double deckered and they can even put a swimming pool in! haha was so fascinated when I first read about it when it was in the development stages.. So cool to finally see it fly.. Can't wait to ride in it once Terminal 3 opens!

Haha.

Bleah

Contrary to popular belief on SOME blogs, I am just a poor student, and do not have enough moolah to organise a chilli crab banquet.

Melbourne Trip

I'm back from Melbourne! I'm so tired now.. The train ride back was a bitch.. Next time I'll either fly or get a sleeper compartment..
The first day, we were heading to the airport for our flight to Melbourne, and because of the heavy traffic, some of us couldn't reach the airport in time and we missed our flight! this is the first time in my life that I missed a flight.. Luckily the people there let us get on a later flight at no extra charge.. really felt like I was in the Amazing Race.. haha..
Melbourne is a nice city but I think I would still prefer Adelaide.. The first thing I noticed in Melbourne was that the pace of life was a little faster than Adelaide wonder how I will cope when I'm back in Singapore! haha.. The people in Melbourne were walking faster than us and everywhere we went we were like 'swakoos'.. We were like, 'Wah here got HMV!!', 'Wah here got Starbucks!!!' or generally, 'WAH!!!!'
Also met up with Jiahui who brought me around to eat Thai food.. the food in Melbourne is not bad.. especially the Gelati!! haha.. Had it 4 out of the 5 days i was there..haha just like when we were in Germany and we bought gelati everytime we passed by the shop no matter how cold the weather was.. We also tried the Metre long pizza they had in one restaurant.. it was not too bad.. The Melbourne Comedy Festival was also on and we wanted to watch it but didn't in the end cos there was no time.. and they were showing Mamma Mia too which I missed in Singapore.. hope they come to Adelaide..
The transport in Melbourne is freaking ex.. so ex that even most of the locals don't pay for the trams.. We also didn't pay the full fare.. So we were always on the look out for the conductors.. We could have been fined 150 if we were caught.. haha... So if we saw them boarding the tram, we would get off the tram.. luckily we only encountered them once..
Another thing I learned during this trip was that it is a really really small world! everyone seemed to know someone else and they were all interconnected! Freaky!
On the last day we saw Max Brenner's!! haha went to have the suckao and the chocolate souffle.. really miss Max Brenner's man.. and the milk for their suckao is free flow! spent a really long time there.. haha..
Before catching the train back to Adelaide, we visited the casino.. Now I know why gamblers keep on going back for more.. It's quite addictive! And also casinoes make shitloads of money! haha.. Went around the tables looking at people winning and losing money.. After that went to the train station for the uncomfortable ride back to Adelaide.. Pictures soon!

Shopping

Got to drive again today! haha my friend rented a car so we could go around shopping in the outskirts of town.. Went to this place called Harbourtown where they have lots of factory outlets and the clothes there are damn cheap.. Didn't buy anything but did have my eye on this Converse jacket.. hmm maybe next time.. After that went to the Levi's factory outlet in another ulu part of town.. The jeans there are freaking cheap! you could get a pair of Levi's for as low as $16! Got myself a signature series for about $40.. Went to a the Pancake Kitchen for pancakes after that to celebrate Jamie's birthday.. every tuesday you only pay $5 for unlimited pancakes.. I am so sick of pancakes not.. they fill you up very fast.. ugh..
Going to Melbourne tomorrow! so i guess I won't be online till monday!

Loss

By now, everyone should know that Pope John Paul II has gone home to the Lord.. When I heard the news, I followed the CNN very closely cos reading Angels and Demons sparked some interest in all the tradition in the death of a pope and the re-election of a new one. When I watched segments of the Pope's life, I really felt that he was truly a great man, expecially when he went to visit his assassin in jail and forgave him. It must take a lot to be able to forgive the person who tried to kill you. And also when he started this World Youth Day thing where he tried to reach out to the youth, who are not as religious as the older generation and the youths were all like chanting his name.. whoah.. At least he is suffering no longer from all his illnesses and that he died in serenity with the chorus of prayer from people all over the world.. I hope that the next pope would be able to fill his large shoes and carry on his work..

Barossa Valley

Yesterday was Easter Monday.. We rented a few cars to go on a road trip to the outskirts of the city.. It was fun! We went to Barossa Valley for the wine festival.. dropped by a few vineyards to taste their wine.. its all free flow there! haha.. I tasted many different kinds of wine even though I was driving! haha.. The view was breathtaking.. of the Adelaide hills and the grapevines all over the land.. shall post photos another time cos I'm still so tired from yeaterday.. haha.. only reached home at one plus in the morning.. and had to crawl out of bed today at 7+ to go top up the car and return it..
After Barossa valley, we went to the summit of Mt. Lofty to view the sunset, but by the time we got up there, the sun had already set! haha.. but we still had a very nice night view of the city nonetheless.. after that we went to the German settlement of Handhorf for dinner.. had pork knuckles! haha miss those in Germany though..
On the way back, I went whizzing down the freeway at 150.. It was damn fun! haha really let of all my steam last night! thank goodness there was no TP traps.. hahaha.. anf after the taste of driving again last night, i'm even more tempted to get a car now!
More pictures soon...

Time Travel

Amazing! at the stroke of 3am, I travelled back in time and my clock turned to 2am!

Semaphore Beach

Went to Semaphore beach today to check out this kite festival that they were having.. Singapore beaches can't hold a candle to the beaches here!! The sand is so fine.. the water is so clear.. hai..

People getting their kites ready

Keith, Moses, Ben and Me at the head of the jetty with the Pacific behind us

Reflections in the water... Where in singapore can you find such clear seawater!!

I wanna learn how to ride a boat!

Looking at the kites, I really miss the days where we went to layang layang at Marina Bay.. the conditions there were perfect for kite flying.. I wanna fly kite again!!!

All the different kites in the sky.. it looks nicer in actual view than in this picture..

Me flying kites!!

Had a great time today.. wanna go back there again to fly kite! and I wanna collect the sand! its so fine it can be used to fill hourglasses! haha..

Morialta Falls

Today's Good Friday! Long weekend! they have holiday on monday too.. so its a nice long weekend.. the people here are really slack! they don't work on public holidays! even some Mac's! so really nothing to shop.. so we decided to go see the Morialta falls.. so we went to hike through the Morialta Falls Park..

At a bridge in the park

The park was HUGE... it had 3 waterfalls and to walk all 3, you would have to cover about 10km.. and they had different trails for different levels of difficulty... quite fun..

Some birds at their watering hole..

Me and Moses at a lookout point(it was quite tiring to climb up.. heh)

Me standing in front of rocks.

A butterfly!

You may be wondering why after all these picture I didn't put up any waterfall pics.. cos we didn't see the falls!!! haha.. cos it was an even longer trek in and we were all wrongly attired! some in jeans and some in slippers.. we really didn't know we would have to walk that much.. yeah so we decided to go off.. I wanna go back again to see the falls.. maybe all 3.. quite fun to trek in there.. its not too hot.. yeah and its not bad to be in the bush as a civilian... haha...

After that we went to try out their train system.. so we took a train to nowhere.. when we went into the train, it was so dark! they didn't turn on the lights.. we thought, wah save electricity until like that ah.. so we then went on to do touristy stuff like taking photos in the train cabin..

then a train conductor came in to tell us we were in the wrong train! he said if a train was actively in service the lights would be on.. so MALU!! hahaha.. so we took the train that went to the hills and the view was spectacular.. could see all the way to the pacific.. wanna live in the hills.. haha.. so we went to this station called blackwood and went back to the city..

I'm so tired now.. can't wait for Monday! we're renting cars to go Barossa Valley!
